Mr.
Lam is currently practicing health and safety practitioner in Hong Kong. He is a
Registered Safety Auditor (RSA) and Registered Safety Officer (RSO) under the
Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation and
Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Officers & Safety Supervisors)
Regulations respectively. He worked for construction field since 1987. He gained
substantial experience in occupational safety & health management both in
implementation, administration and Safety Auditing since 1991. He has a good
understanding of the legislation in Hong Kong relating to industrial safety and
health matters. He is familiar with various auditing system and standard; such
as, SM-CON, CHASE, ISAS, CISPROS, OHSAS 18001, BS8800 and ISO9001 etc.
He
is currently working for specialist contractor, and he advises management on
health and safety matters for building construction, site formation, slope
works, road works, pilings, diaphragm construction and site investigation works
etc. He is also responsible for the supervision and training of subordinates to
be competency on problem solving and analytical skill before and after
registration as Safety Officer. He had worked for various government and private
projects from small to large-scale, including the HKHA headquarter and the
academic building, student hostel and swimming pool of the University of Science
and Technology, Highways and Civil Engineering Department projects.
He
is not only well trained in building construction, civil engineering and
occupational safety & health management, but also continuously pursing for
knowledge to widen his view in various aspects as part of his professional
development. He was the 1st intake graduate of the BSc(H&S) of the Curtin
University of Technology (Australia). Furthermore, he was awarded with the 2nd
degree of "MSc. in Occupational Safety and Health" from the University
of Greenwich (UK) as organized by the University of Hong Kong in 2002. He opined
that pursing for broad knowledge by CPD programme and substantial experiences
are vital importance for a successful and competitive health and safety
practitioner.
In
addition, he is an active member of the bulletin editorial broad of the Hong
Kong Occupational Safety and Health Association (HKOSHA) from 1997~1998. He
devotes his professional knowledge to act as project supervisor and role-play to
the well recognized “Safety Auditors Training Scheme (SATS)”, which is
organized by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, since 2003. He is at present
an Executive Member of the Society of Accredited Safety Auditors limited and a
company’s nominated safety representative of the HKCA - Site Investigation
Contractors Committee (SICC).
